Cross Country Kick Off

The Half Way Tree (HWT) Transport Centre is a fitting venue for the launch of the Cross Country Invasion. Midway on their journey from home, work and other locations, thousands of commuters converged on the HWT Transport Centre during our broadcast. Curious onlookers and Smile Jamaica fans watched the crew go through the motions of a live television broadcast during peak hour traffic.

The historic significance of the HWT Transport Centre is two fold. First, the world class centralise transit facility is the first of its kind in Jamaica. Secondly, the location gets its name from “the huge cotton tree that was standing there when the Spaniards first arrived and which died of old age in 1870. The tree stood near to the Parish Church at the junction of important roads between Spanish Town and Downtown Kingston”, states the Encyclopedia of Jamaica Heritage by Olive Senior.

Supported by the RJR Communications Group, which includes TVJ, the Cross Country Invasion will roll out 67 outside broadcasts right across the island, look out for performances by I Octane and Stacious (pictured above with myself and Neville Bell).

Special thanks to Miami Heat for my outfit and Sandy [876.371.6353] for styling my hair. Next scheduled appearance: Thursday, January 31
