Pop-Ups, Fake Apps and Ads That Won't Quit

Android pop-up ads are usually caused by adware apps disguised as PDF readers or media players, installed by tapping misleading prompts on websites or links in WhatsApp chats. Remove them by reviewing all installed apps in the Google Play Store under Manage Apps, uninstalling anything unfamiliar, and checking Settings under Apps and Special App Access for hidden entries. Prevent reinfection by only installing apps you chose yourself directly from the Play Store and keeping Google Play Protect active.

WhatsApp Usernames Are Here

WhatsApp began accepting username reservations, allowing users to connect without sharing their phone number. No Instagram or Facebook account is required to create a unique WhatsApp username — Accounts Centre is only needed to claim an existing Instagram or Facebook handle. Usernames are optional, can be changed at any time, and an optional username key adds a secondary PIN for additional privacy control.

The Other Side of the Screen

Using Jamaica's digital government services carries risks including data exposure, cybersecurity threats, digital exclusion for vulnerable groups, system outages, and phishing scams impersonating official sites like gov.jm. Citizens can protect themselves by accessing services only through verified .gov.jm URLs, avoiding last-minute transactions, saving confirmation screenshots, and keeping account contact information current.

Online, Not In Line

Jamaica's government services — including vehicle registration, NHT refunds, passport renewal and tax compliance certificates — are available online, eliminating the need to visit a tax office or government agency in person. All you need to get started is a secure, accessible email address.
